Kindle Status

Just an FYI that I got my Kindle 2 and....(drumroll, please)....

IT IS EVERYTHING I DREAMED IT WOULD BE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY LIFE-CHANGING.

I carry it around with me wherever I go. I can download books instantly from wherever I am, and I find that intoxicating. I could be in a Thai jail (a la Bridget Jones) and download the Twilight Saga. No problem. I even downloaded a book for class...no trip to Barnes & Noble, no waiting on Amazon shipping. Plus they're cheaper than actual books. Yeah, the up-front cost of the Kindle is staggering, but since George won this version I can avoid that guilt. Yippee!!!

I can't stand to be still and/or bored at any time, so if I have a spare two minutes all I have to do is whip out my Kindle. You can download newspapers, blogs, books and magazines. The only downside I've found is that my recent interest in photography is limited here (photos don't come across well in this format).

Kindle be praised!!!

Jason and Leslie

I had the opportunity to photograph a terribly photogenic couple this weekend that are expecting their first child in June, Jason and Leslie. Here are a few of my favorites.

Day at the zoo

Today I went to the Memphis Zoo with Mom, Emma, and Matt.  It was so much fun!  After trying to take some decent pictures of these zany kiddies, though, I just want to say out loud: I am so impressed that Melissa takes such great pictures of them.

Gorgeous?  Yes, they are.  Photogenic?  Of course.

Still? Never. Ever.

The fact that they are so active is fantastic until you try to document it with a camera.  I imagine I'd feel similarly if I attempted to photograph a tornado.  Or Taz on Bugs Bunny if he were real.  Matt is a little easier to catch (you'll see that I have more pictures of him) but Emma zipped away whenever she saw me trying to focus in her direction!

Plus, I'm still messing around with a new lens that isn't exactly designed for speed-of-light action. It is also not ideal for zoo shots, but what the heck.

Schmap at Domaine Carneros

This link takes you to a picture of the Domaine Carneros winery in California I took last year.

Photography channel coming?

Looks like there will be a TV network solely devoted to photography. How cool! Here's a blurb from their site:

Photography is the universal language spoken in every country around the world. Now everyone can share their vision and passion by connecting with the hearts and minds of photographers everywhere.

Check out their web site for a video explaining their concept.

SCADshorts

Ho hum, I haven't uploaded many photographs lately because I've been using my film camera rather than my digital...and the film scanner at school is broken.  Instead, I've decided to share with you a hilarious - yet creepy - SCADshort.  For more information on SCADshorts, visit their website.
