I randomly googled Ai Weiwei this morning (as one does) and came across this hilarious picture of him. Love this guy. Accompanying interview here.

Chicago Pride

This weekend I attended the Chicago Annual Pride Parade and it was simply AMAZING. I got to spend time with old friends and eat Honey BBQ Frito's (have you tried those??) all while ogling the gorgeous eye candy this fabulous city has to offer. It was a treat to behold, to say the least. One of my best friends, Tony, moved there several years ago and knew not a SOUL. He has cultivated a wonderful, wonderful group of friends there and - for that- I am very glad. Many thanks to my gracious host, Dan Gawne (see first image below).

Chicago

This weekend I'm going to Chicago with Jason Rister and the famous Jill Kreider Collins to visit our crazy friend, Tony. This pic pretty much sums up Tony's and Rister's personalities: Tony is about to tell whoever is right outside of the frame that whatever they just said was stupid, and Rister is trying to seduce the camera with his (imagined) oozing sensuality and charm. Wish me luck. I'll be back soon with pics of the trip!

Andreas Gefeller part 2

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD LOOK AT THIS.

Andreas Gefeller

I saw one of his photographs at the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach last week, and got so excited I didn't know what to do with myself. I didn't have anyone with me to gush over it, so instead I became an impromptu tour guide for some cute little old ladies who were wondering (1) how he shot the photo and (2) why I was standing in front of the photo, by myself, scribbling furiously into my notebook. And I might've been talking to myself like a crazy person. Just a little bit.

Check out Gefeller's site here.

Andy Paiko

I'm LOVING this guy's work, particularly the bell jars and reliquaries.

Jacinda Russell

Jacinda Russell gave a talk this week at the University of Memphis, and I am totally loving her work. She preserves old books in resin and does some fun and funky ephemeral performances at famous earthwork sites, among many other things.

Favorite new word after being exposed to her work: wunderkammer.

The Evolution Store

I just discovered this store in New York. I'm spending the rest of the day justifying a trip to NYC just so I can go!

Along a similar taxidermy/taxonomy theme, here's a recent photo of mine.
