Last Thursday, I went to Rhodes to listen to a lecture given by Ben Butler, an artist and art professor there. The lecture was followed the next day by his art opening at Clough-Hanson Gallery. Very impressive work, to say the least.
Have you heard that a $15 million museum devoted to William Eggleston is slated to open in Memphis in 2013? My understanding is that the deal isn't finalized, but keep your fingers crossed. This would be HUGE for Memphis! Most of it would be devoted to the artist, and it would house his extensive archives, but the museum would also exhibit contemporary work by other artists. Exciting!
If you're not familiar with Eggleston, he pretty much put color photography on the fine art map. He is from Memphis and currently works and resides here.
My name is Katie. I live in Memphis. The purpose of this site is to record some of my favorite things. I may share images I make, post work by others that I love...or just point out any shiny bauble that catches my eye.
